Welcome to MADiSON! MADiSON is an immersive and terrifying first-person psychological horror game, featuring disturbing gameplay and an unsettling and compelling narrative. With the help of a ‘possessed’ instant camera, connect the human world with the beyond. Solve puzzles, explore your surroundings and most importantly, survive. There are more than one evil entity in MADiSON and every character has a disturbing story that blends seamlessly into the main narrative. Use the instant camera to survive this torture. Develop the photos you take manually and face the fear of unveiling the truth. Search everything, pick up elements and interact with them to survive the entities. Randomly activated events and changing puzzles throughout the game assures a higher level of replayability as you get lost in this immersive and terrifying experience. Watch every step you make and be careful not to attract any unwanted attention. You will not be alone.

The struggle within
Finish the game under 2.5 hrs.
This should be attempted on your third playthrough when you are comfortable with the layout of the game areas and are familiar with all puzzles and story items. Play through on Normal difficulty, as you will sometimes be prompted to take photos, items will have a visible marker, and the enemies will be easier, thus preventing restarting of checkpoints.
Out of film
Complete the game taking 40 or fewer pictures.
This should be attempted on your third playthrough when you are comfortable with the layout of the game areas and are familiar with all puzzles and story items. Play through on Normal difficulty as you will sometimes be prompted to take photos, and the enemies will be easier, thus preventing restarting of checkpoints. Only take the photos that are absolutely necessary to progress the story. See ‘Stage 1 Walkthrough‘ for the absolutely necessary photos and when to make a manual game save.
Do not waste
Complete the game taking 75 or fewer pictures.
See the ‘Out of film‘ trophy description for more details.
Lived to tell the tale
Complete the game in hard mode or higher.
Play the game to the ending on Hard difficulty. You can die in the game and still earn this trophy during your Hard difficulty playthrough.
Note: As of the making of this guide there are only 2 possible difficulties: Normal and Hard.
Complete the mausoleum section under 5 minutes.
At a certain point in the game you will hear the front doorbell and you are instructed to go and answer it. When you go to where the front door is located, it will have changed and lead to an elevator. See the ‘Stage 1 Walkthrough‘ for more details. When you have completed all 5 levels of the elevator/mausoleum and go back into where the front door of the house was, you will earn this trophy if you completed it in under 5 minutes.
Complete the tunnels section under 3 minutes.
After solving the attic puzzle of 43, you will need to collect the Lighter on the left table before going through the open door where 43 was located. You will enter the tunnels and you will need to navigate through them to get through them. There is a red collectible photo in the tunnels. When trying to go through the tunnels, there will be parts that curve around left or right and these are loops that either are dead ends or go back to the main tunnel. Listen carefully as you will hear a voice calling for Luca to follow. Follow this voice and eventually you will see someone and you will need to follow them until you exit the tunnels.
You will probably complete this on your second or third playthrough once you are familiar with the tunnels. Get through them in less than 3 minutes to earn this trophy.
Complete the shelves section under 5 minutes.
After finding the red basement key, you will need to use it to enter this basement area. Make sure that you have at least 1 empty space in your Inventory (although there is a Red Storage Safe during the next area.) Go into the room and there is a red collectible. Go to the back near the wall sign and then turn around. The room will change and there will be a light that is lowered in front of you. You will need to hit the light with R2 and wait for the cutscene to end. Then look in a circular motion where you are standing to see if there is a Crowbar on one of the nearby shelves. If there is not then hit the light again. Look for the Crowbar again and repeat this process until you find the Crowbar and collect it. Hit the light after getting the Crowbar and now there will be a statue. This statue will be making a breathing noise. Take a photo of it. Now there will 3 statues and you will need to take a photo of the breathing one. Continue to do this process until the cutscenes end and you can exit this basement room. If you complete this in under 5 minutes then you will earn this trophy.
Blind Blue Knees five times.
Make a game save by exiting the game to the main menu after you have obtained the key to Dad’s room in the grandparents’ part of the house. This is before you complete the weight puzzle. Enter this room, complete the weight puzzle, and then read the Blue Knees storybook. You will bring Blue Knees to life in the house and the house layout will have changed. Some of the changes will be that there is no accessible basement area, but the attic will be on this floor and different parts of the first floor will be rearranged in their layout.
When you see or hear Blue Knees coming towards you, take out your Camera and take a photo within about 3 – 4m (10 – 13′) of Blue Knees. This will blind him and make him disappear for a few minutes. Do this five times to earn this trophy.
Survive through the entire Blue Knees section.

There will be Phonographs that you will need to interact with and play a 30 second tune. If you stop playing the tune then you will have to start it over. When the song is done a possible collectible Eyeball will be inside the horn of the Phonograph. Not all of these are collectible. You will need to collect 2 Eyeballs. There are 6 Phonographs available to be played, however Blue Knees will be wandering the house at the same time. During the playing of the tune, you will need to listen to detect if Blue Knees is nearby. When you see or hear Blue Knees coming towards you, take out your Camera and take a photo within about 3 – 4m (10 – 13′) of Blue Knees and this will blind him and make him disappear for a few minutes.
Get the 2 Eyeballs and put them into the playthrough floor crack. Next take a photo of this floor crack.
Find every red collectible.
There are 20 red collectible photos to find. These red collectible photos are available in game up until you start Blue Knees part of the game. Some of these will only be accessible once in the game since some areas of the game are only visited once. To collect them you will need to take a photo of them. If done correctly, the photo will dissolve away and your photo in your hand will appear red after you shake it. See the pictures below for more details.
Find every blue collectible.
There are 5 blue collectible photos to find. These blue collectible photos are only available during Blue Knees part of the game. To collect them you will need to take a photo of them. If done correctly, the photo will dissolve away and your photo in your hand will appear blue after you shake it. See the pictures below for more details.
Reach Luca’s storage limit.

You shouldn’t have listened
Play the “Do not listen” tape.
After obtaining the Crowbar, return to the Attic and pry open the floor board at the foot of the bed frame. You will then be able to collect the “Do not listen” tape that is silver. Take the tape and play it on the tape player in the dining room.
Get back to the main house for the first time.
You will leave the house the first time when in the basement after going through the well. You will hear a police officer’s account of their time in the flooded basement area. From here you will be wake up in a room that you encircled with red doors. Open all of them. After they all close look at the floor near the closed doors. You will need to take a photo of the door that has bugs going under the door. Then you will exit back into the basement of the house.
Welcome back, once again
Get back to the main house a second time.
You will need to solve the attic 43 puzzle by putting the 4 portraits on the nails on the walls. These are random and will change every time you play so continue to place them and then check through the hole to see if 43 is still visible. When you have arranged the portraits correctly, when you look through the hole, you will see a door. Go through the door and collect the lighter on the left table. You will then proceed through the tunnels, graveyard, church, and a long hallway with the 4 portraits. You will return back to the house into the attic.
Note: there are red collectible cards throughout this area of the game. See the ‘Red‘ trophy description for these collectibles.
You know what to do
Find a collectible.
Take a photo of either a red or blue collectible photo for the first time. See either ‘Red‘ or ‘Blue‘ trophy description for more details.
Make the four virgins cry.
You will be collecting items throughout your playthrough. The four items that are important for this trophy are: Moonbox, Sunbox, Ring, and Skull. You will place these items into the bowls of the 4 statues that are in the room where you originally obtained Luca’s Camera. See ‘Stage 1 Walkthrough‘ for the specific details for each of these items needed.
Break the shovel.
The first time that you go into the basement through the red door, you will walk along a pathway and the Shovel will be on your right. Collect the Shovel and use it to try to open the sealed well. Note: Do not collect the broken Shovel as it is not needed ever again.
Find the hidden message on the mirror.
Near the beginning of the game, you will be able to enter the bathroom that is across the hall from the grandparent’s room. At the sink, interact with the mirror above and rotate it to see the message on the back.
No time to die
Survive through the entire Cathedral section.
During the game you will be inside a church where you can use the Camera to go between time periods: 2022, 1987, and 1951. You will be tasked with finding and using 4 candles during these time periods. The 1951 time period that is the dangerous one. When you are in 1951, you will need to try to use the candles that you have obtained in their corresponding colour maze to match them to the correct painting. After trying these candles then approach the confessional on the altar and interact with the screen. A woman’s voice will tell a story and upon its completion she will slip a piece of paper under the door. Interact with the piece of paper and then go down the aisle to obtain the Blue Candle. Try the Blue Candle in the Blue Maze as quickly as possible. If you take too long in this time period then an enemy will start to hunt and kill you. For the final step you will need to return to 1951 to use a key to open the locked door where the woman was in the confessional. Interact with the nameplate to collect the letter ‘i’ and then quickly leave to get back to 1987. If you survive all the times that you were in 1951, you will earn this trophy. 3. In the church on the altar during 1987.

Grandma was right
Let Blue Knees kill you.
After unleashing Blue Knees into the house, if you get caught by him, he will kill you and you will start back in the playroom. If you do not get caught by him while going through the house for his playing the Phonographs, then he will still kill you after you solve the playroom floor crack puzzle.
He is here
Let Hans kill you.
During the 1951 time period in the church, if you get caught (for taking too long) by the enemy (Hans), then you will die. If he is not appearing, then wait around in the 1951 time period for him to appear. You will spawn after a death back in the 2022 time period in the church.
Find every collectible in the game.
After collecting all 20 red and 5 blue collectible photos, you will earn this trophy. The collectible counts will carry over to multiple playthroughs, but it is recommended to earn this during your first playthrough as you will need to take a lot of photos.
Find Elizabeth’s diary lost page.
Inside the grandparents’ bedroom, grandma’s (Elizabeth’s) diary is inside the closet to the right when you first enter the room. You can interact with it to read the pages. Later in the game you will need to open the door at the end of the hallway that has 2 locks on it. This door was behind the grandfather clock near the start of the game. After opening this door, go to your right and underneath where the yellow power tool is located, there is a page that you can interact with. This is Elizabeth’s lost diary page. See ‘Stage 1 Walkthrough‘ above and the picture below.
