Stage 1 – reach 5.000 population on Paxlon difficulty
Welcome to Kingdoms and Castles. The roadmap for the platinum trophy is straight forward:
1. Reach a population of 5.000 (“Kingdom of the Gods“)
2. Defeat a dragon (“Slayer of Dragons“)
3. Defeat an Ogre (“Slayer of Ogres“)
4. Build a high tower (“Tower of Babel“)
First we’ll start with the 5.000 population. Start a new game on Paxlon difficulty. This means that no enemies are present. There is no need to add any (friendly) A.I.’s.
When you start the build, keep an eye out for the following:
A. Make sure you got 1-2 stone queries nearby
B. Some forests to gather wood
C. Green soil, to grow food
D. Preferable some iron, not too far away
You may use seed LLN1130111434 which is a Large size land without island and without rivers.
When growing your kingdom, you’ll need to balance happiness against tax.
Happiness is influenced by a lot of things, for instance:
A. Access to coal / water / Roads.
B. Having a neighbor / garden / Statue
C. Nearby Bakery, Theater, Bathhouse, etc.
Tax will decrease the happiness of residents. You’ll need to tax in order to pay the advanced buildings such as a hospital.
Clicking on any resource such as Gold / Food / Happiness will provide you with insights. You’ll see how much you earn each year. This will provide you with insights on what to build next. If you didn’t build enough churches, bath houses and so on, the game will also display a notification.
Not only is gathering resources important, it’s vital that all buildings get access to those resources. It’s best if you build your city in segments, with farms and manors close to each other. That way, those farms can supply taverns and markets quickly, keeping the residents happy. The same goes for charcoal for heating. Keep the chain running.
Some general tips for your run:
A. Building a dock will allow NPC merchant to dock. You can buy or sell supplies
B. Building a library allows you to research knowledge such as -10% costs on buildings
C. A higher happiness attracts more people to your castle (when room is available)
D. Make sure you build enough tax collectors in order to tax all your people.
E. Building a Noria with a reservoir will increase the food produced.
If things go south, people might die of the plaque. This will decrease happiness and residents. It will keep decreasing until it will matches up against the resources you are lacking such as a hospital or enough food. This will offer you the chance to fix your city and regrow again.
Stage 2 – Kill a dragon and Ogre on Easy difficulty
Now start a run on easy difficulty. Enemies such as dragons and vikings will invade you. The timers in shown at the right upper corner.
Ballistas are your best bet against dragons and ogres. If you build the towers higher, the ballistas will have more range. You will only need to kill one for the “Slayer of Dragons” trophy. Ogres on the other hand aren’t that easy. They have specific spawn requirements that need to be met. You got 2 options:
1. On easy, having 150 residents. On hard it is 100 residents
2. Surround your city with (stone) walls. Vikings will leave as they can’t damage your castle.
When any two of these conditions are met, there is a chance an ogre will spawn when they invade you. As soon as you kill one, you’ll unlock the trophy called “Slayer of Ogres“. Below is an example of a small village surrounded with stone walls and 150 residents.

Slayer of Ogres
Ogres cannot match the strength of your kingdom.
