Welcome to the trophy guide for Do Not Open. This can also be considered a walkthrough and may be used for PlayStation 4, 5, Xbox One, Series X and Steam. Achievements for Steam and Xbox are in almost all cases the same as the PlayStation 4/5 Trophies. A roadmap is provided in the stages below.

Welcome to Do Not Open! A disturbing survival horror, inspired by escape room mechanics that is inspired by masters of horror from video games, literature and cinema. Do Not Open is a tragic story about one man’s battle to retain sanity and fight to shut out the voices in his head. Escape the manor while dealing with a mysterious paranormal threat, stalking you. The pressure is intense as a clock ticks down to zero. The clock stops. Hurry! Solve, Hide or Die!
Procedurally designed, for replayability as each new game will have a different house layout, key objects will be in different locations, also puzzle codes and with over 2,193,360 different combinations, each playthrough will be a complete experience from beginning to end, even the plot will be a puzzle in itself. Will you be able to tie up all the loose ends to uncover the terrible truth behind the Judith manor?


Stage 1 – Play the Story.


There are 5 areas to escape from: The Basement, Dance Room, Guest Room, Kitchen, and Laboratory. In each area, you will need to find various clues and solve puzzles in order to escape the area. The Dance Room, Guest Room, and Kitchen each have a time limit of 10 minutes once you have entered them to solve everything before the monster appears. Once the monster is in a level, you will need to move quietly and hide under tables or in closets as needed. You will always have to exit each area through the door that you entered the area initially. This door will have a pink glow around it showing that it is the exit. During this playthrough you will want to become familiar with finding what the clues are and how to solve the puzzles as these will be similar to each new playthrough, however, the game is procedurally designed. Do not worry about dying in this playthrough as there is a trophy needed for the number of deaths.

General Walkthrough for the Game


Notes: Only run when the monster is not yet in an area since 10 minutes has not expired or when the monster is relatively near you. This will attract the monster towards you, and even if you hide, it will find and kill you. Therefore, it is recommended that when the monster is in an area, walk or crouch walk to be as quiet as possible so the monster does not hear you.

Basement

To escape the basement, you will need to look at the 4 small Post-It notes. There is a number on the Post-It note in the top-right corner under a curl of the page so make sure you rotate the note. The statement on the Post-It note will describe one of the four paintings. On the paintings, there will be a red number that is for the basement door lock code. The Post-It notes will tell you the order (1 – 4) that the red number from the painting will be for the lock on the basement door. When the lock opens, there will be a banging noise coming from upstairs. Run to the back of the room and hide inside the closet until the game says to exit. Then walk up the stairs and open the door to the main part of the house.

Main Floor of the House

Pick up the crowbar beside the fireplace and use it to break down the barriers by pressing R1 at the correct time. This gives a green color and it will not attract the monster.

The Dance Room, Kitchen, and Guest Room can be in any order so go next to the correct one to continue following the walkthrough.

Dance Room (Press R2 when in this area to see how much time you have until the monster enters the area. It is only 10 minutes maximum. Break any barriers on any doors as you more than likely need these to be removed to be successful in this area.)

There will be a labyrinth game that you can interact with by tilting the game board to get the marble to drop through the hole that is in the bottom center closest to the player. The marble will drop through the lion’s mouth onto the floor where you will automatically pick it up. You will then need to use this marble on a box that has a spherical depression on top of it. This will open this box and you will need to pick up half of the exit room key.

During this area, there will be 4 colored vases: blue, red, yellow, and green with a diagram of a shape sticking out where the flowers are located. Make note of the shape and the associated color with it. You will need to find the piano and the sheet music will show the shapes and the piano keys will have only 4 colored keys to play. Play the keys in the correct order to have a statue automatically break and reveal the other half of the exit key. Before interacting with it, you should know where you need to exit and where the hiding spots are because as soon as you interact with the other half of the exit key, it will automatically make the full exit key. When the full exit key is formed, the monster will enter the area, even if 10 minutes have not passed. Finally, hide if needed, and when the way is clear, make your way to the exit door. Remember that the exit door is the door that you entered the area with a glowing pink color around it.

Main Floor of the House

Use this Dance Room exit key on the front door that is chain-locked door with a mask covering. Interact every time after making it successfully out of a new area that rewarded a trophy.

Guest Room (Press R2 when in this area to see how much time you have until the monster enters the area. It is only 10 minutes maximum. Break any barriers on any doors as you more than likely need these to be removed to be successful in this area.)

Enter one of the side room doors, and in this area, you will go up the stairs and enter the room with a couch and TV. On the couch is a TV flyer with a Morse code decipher for the alphabet. When you interact with the TV, it will give a four-letter word code that is in Morse code. You will need to decipher what the four-letter word is. Go downstairs to the dog statue that is near the pool table. Interact with the dog’s collar to put in the four-letter word and get the first half part of the key.

Downstairs in the pool table room, there is a Town map and book. Interact with the book to see it showing the times of 7 different activities. Put them in the correct order from earliest to latest for each place the person went to by interacting with the locations on the map. They will light up green if correct. Once you have them all correct, you will reward a small key. You will need to use this key to open the small box that is on a table. It will open and you will be able to retrieve the other key part. The parts will form the exit key. Use it on the door that you entered this area. You may need to hide so that you can get the monster out of the pathway that you need to follow to get to the exit door. There should be a table or closet that you can use to hide in until it is safe to exit and then head to the exit for the area.

Kitchen (Press R2 when in this area to see how much time you have until the monster enters the area. It is only 10 minutes maximum. Break any barriers on any doors as you more than likely need these to be removed to be successful in this area.)

Enter one of the side room doors. There will be 5 knives to find, and you will put them on the wood board on the kitchen counter. Look at the knife book and the recipe book to figure out the knife order of the recipe based on the ingredient order of the recipe. When the knives are in the correct order that they were used in the recipe, you will be able to retrieve the first half of the exit key.

Next, you will need to find the calendar and put it on the hook next to the interactive paper. Change the 4 corners numbers shown as ‘1’s’ so that they either add or multiply to give the number between them horizontally or vertically. You can only use the circled number from the calendar. A number can only be used once. If done correctly, it will reveal a 4 digit code in the middle that you need to use on the locked lunchbox. Enter the code, this will get you the second half of the key. This will make the exit key. You will need to hide and when safe to move go to the exit for the area.

Laboratory

Enter through the hole in the floor near the front door. Continue to the next area underground. This next part is not time-limited, so do not worry about 10 minutes limit. In the lab you will need to go to the laptops in the lab to check the emails. There will be an email that lists the workers and their locker codes. Use these to open up the lockers until you find a fuse inside of one. Back in the lab, put the fuse on the side panel of the machine where there are gloves sticking inside of it. Solve the slide puzzle, which is a waterpipe game and this will open a small door on the other side of the machine. Retrieve the first half t of the key from inside.

On the side wall, on a computer tower, or possibly other places, there is a Post-It note that tells a number that gets multiplied by 0.01 mL. There will be a volume puzzle at a sink where there may be one or more broken beakers. Look around to find the beaker(s) in the lab. Once you have found them, interact with the large beaker near the digital scale. The sizes of the beakers are: bottom right is 25 mL, the top is 33 mL, and left is 50 mL. You will need to interact with the correct beakers to make the amount from the Post-It note. This will open a small cabinet door on one of the tables in the middle of this room, retrieve the second half of the key, and this will make the exit key. Go back to the door where you enter near the lockers, immediately turn around and open the door. Continue towards the lab and then break the boards to enter the lab. Next hide under one of the middle lab tables. Watch the monster to see when they pass and the direction they are going. When it’s safe to move, head back to the crack in the wall where you entered the basement.

Stage 2 – Play the Story again as a New Game.


To decrease the number of playthroughs needed to earn all trophies, it is highly recommended to disable the automatic Cloud Saves of the game. You will be uploading or downloading depending on your success in solving the puzzles, hiding without being seen, and escaping the area without dying. If you are successful, then do a manual upload of the game and save to the Cloud. However, if you cannot solve a puzzle, get seen by the monster, or are caught by the monster, then immediately close the game and download the Cloud save to keep the not seen, never caught, and always solve all puzzle streaks intact.

The game will automatically save after you escape an area and the cutscene plays through. At the point when you are back inside the main area of the house, feel free to pause the game and select to quit the game. This will save the game at this point. Upload this successful area cleared to the Cloud and then open the game and continue. If done correctly you will earn all the other trophies that you did not earn in the first playthrough.

Below is a walkthrough of the game as mentioned in Stage 2: not seen, never caught, and always solve all puzzles.
Note: Your playthroughs of areas may not be in the same order and the layout of the areas will more than likely different. All the codes, puzzles, values, etc. will be different. However, this video shows what you can generally expect to have to do to complete this stage.

You will need to solve the puzzles in a room to get the exit key, but you will need to get captured by the monster before you can escape the area.

Finish the game for the first time.

Complete the game for the first time using Stage 1.


I’m a Genius
Complete the first enigma.

During the Basement, you will earn this trophy by successfully getting the basement door lock to open up.


Hide!
Hide for first time.

Use a closet or go under a table to hide for the first time.


In the crosshair
Found by the enemy for the first time.

During a room when the monster has entered the area, as soon as it sees you, you will earn this trophy.
