Stage 1 – Beat the game while obtaining all the collectibles.

Welcome to the Superliminal guide. A tricky puzzler but a fantastic game! There are no missables besides the speed runs as there is a chapter select which even lists which chapter has what kind of collectibles and if you’re missing any in that level. Superliminal also auto-saves the collectible as soon as you interact with it so when combing through a level for what you missed you’ll notice what you’ve already obtained. The 4-6 Hour window to platinum is also if you know the game very well and understand everything fluently alongside nailing that speedrun. Expect more if you struggle with puzzles or practice the speedrun a lot (Which you will)!

Chapter 1

Chapter 1 is by far the easiest in every sense. You won’t need to do much during the first while of this chapter. A little over half-way you’ll pass through a hall with a wall of alarm clocks, this is the indicator where you’ll start to need to keep an eye out.

Chess Piece

Structure to reach the Chess Piece

You’ll need to reach the top of the walls in this corner specifically to find your chess piece. Next up in the same room, opposite wall, remove the planks and travel into the hall to find a vending machine. Click the top button to get a can of soda. Return to the room with the soda and drop it from high up to have it slam into the ground earning you Sugar Crush.
Note: As you find vending machines from here on out, use the different buttons to ‘try’ different sodas for the Soda Connaisseur trophy.

When you reach the final hall, you’ll know this as it looks like a stadium hallway. You’ll find your only Fire Alarm and Fire Extinguisher for this level.
Note: Fire Extinguishers need to be emptied, so you’ll have to interact with it multiple times until it won’t let you. Remember this.

Now for the final tidbit of Chapter 1, a rage inducing moment that’ll make you furious. At the end of this hallway is a pit that’ll drop you into the start of the next level. Luckily, if you slip and start to fall pause immediately and restart at checkpoint. So you’ll be fine to re-attempt this multiple times, as you’ll also likely drop the cheese 300 times.

Blueprint

Cheese Ramp to reach Blueprint location.

You’ll need to backtrack a short to grab the piece of cheese. You’ll either need to make it big enough to span the chasm to get to the other side or have it overhang the chasm to reach it with a jump. Once across the Blueprint is behind a wooden wall in the immediate first room.
Note: You’ll likely drop the cheese in the pit a lot. Don’t fret, the cheese will re-spawn in the original location.

Chapter 2

Quite a leap up from Chapter 1 in terms of collectibles! A lot are in plain sight but the more peculiar ones [Chess pieces, blueprints, etc.] are a little more cleverly hidden. Follow along below.
Note: In the room immediately after the first Fire Alarm + Fire Extinguisher, use the vending machine and put the soda in the garbage can for Please Recycle

The collectibles are in order of progress through the level not by category, so follow along below marking them off.

It’ll be mentioned here, though you can nab them at anytime you find trash cans and soda cans together throughout the game. There are 3 types of trashes to look out for that you must put a soda can into:

Without further adieu, the 2nd chapter is as follows:

Immediately after Fire Extinguisher 6 is important. Go around to the left hand side [From facing the extinguisher] to find the next collectible.

Blueprint

Blue at the End of this hallway.

After this it’ll be back to more Fire Alarms and Fire Extinguishers for a while. Do take note that around Fire Alarm 9 the trophy Expert Fire Alarmist should pop.

You’ll be in a dark stairwell soon, with a tape player in the stairwell. 2 important things to collect here:

Constellation – Dining Room Table

Once you reach these yellow stairs, hop over the garbage can and go beneath them. You’ll find your first constellation room at the end of the hallway. You’ll have to line up the brighter stars to make a specific shape, in this case a dining room table.

Chess Piece

Contraption used to reach chess piece.

You’ll want to bring the device used to reach the new area with you from before. Placing it at the top of the stairs, allowing you to jump over to the vertical plank of wood in the middle which houses the Chess Piece at the top. in the immediate next room is another Chess Piece!

Chess Piece

So you’ll have to reach the top of the ventilation shafts that run the perimeter of the room. Put the cube on the metal stand like in the first picture. Jump from the yellow banister onto the stand and onto the cube. Put the Green Chess Piece in-front of you allowing you to jump onto it and then onto the ventilation shaft. Follow it to the very end for your chess piece. Before you leave the room, there’s a miscellaneous trophy to nab as well!

Build a ramp set-up like in the picture above leading to the doorway. You’ll see a Fire Alarm in the picture as well. Upon entering the hallway will be a Fire Extinguisher as well. Travel to the end of the hallway for Please Use Other Door.

Blueprint

After Fire Alarm 16, still in the same room you’ll need to build a tall scaffolding to reach the skylight. You can do so with the objects you collect off of the moon. You can see an example in the picture above, when you make it out of the skylight look around on the roof for a blueprint.

Chapter 3
Fire Extinguisher 1 + Fire Alarm 1

ConstellationCoffee Mug

Very early into the level you’ll run into a dark room lined with large green pipes. Immediately to you right and beside the doorway is the well-hidden hallway.

Chess Piece

Makeshift scaffolding to reach the vent opening

This is a well hidden chess piece though not difficult to obtain. Replicate the structure above and you’ll grab it without any problems.

Fire Extinguisher 3 + Fire Alarm 4

Chess Piece

Scaffolding to reach air vent.

Once you reach this ‘stadium walled’ area with the light you should stop. Utilize the vending machine for a can or use the light itself, and create a layout like above. Use the pipe to the right to leverage yourself up to the large item. You don’t have to get onto the air vent! Luckily in Superliminal, as long as you’re in clicking range you can activate the Chess Pieces! So you can jump from the item and click the Chess Piece while you’re in mid-air.

Blueprint

In the room with the peculiar sliding dice puzzle, you’ll find your next blueprint. Depending upon how you go about it, the easier method is to get to the next room and you’ll find a bucket with a duck in it. bring the duck back to this room then replicate the set-up above. You’ll find the blueprint atop the jutting out beam.

Blueprint

You’ll notice an attached picture above of Fire Extinguisher 9 which is needed! If you look at what is being held, it’s a die. You’ll need to carry a die with you past this fire extinguisher if you wish to obtain the blueprint. You’ll come to a giant die that you’ll need to jump into, with you falling into a new room. Use the die you carried to create a platform up to the hallway above for the Blueprint.

Chapter 4
Fire Extinguisher 1 + Fire Alarm 1

ConstellationCheese Wheel

Immediately after Fire Alarm/Extinguisher 1, diagonally across from them are some filing cabinets. The entrance to the constellation is hidden in the cabinet’s shadowing.

The following is really annoying, the lights will go out before you make it very far in this docking area making it extremely hard to see. Since the game auto-saves all the collectibles you find, you can restart from checkpoint and rush here to have light to see the next extinguisher if you wish. The point here is that there are 8 Fire Extinguishers in this docking area.

Continue on with the level as regular now:

Chess Piece

Chess Piece Location

Later in the level you’ll need to utilize a red exit sign to help progress through some dark area’s, before you leave the room with the stacked boxes you’ll have to get the Chess Piece. Align yourself with the picture above (It’s the final part of the room before leaving) and you’ll have to do a repetitious climbing method; Use the exit sin to create a ramp up then climb it, pick up the exit sign and create a new ramp up, rinse and repeat until you find the chess piece at the top.

Fire Extinguisher 12

Blueprint

At the very end of the level you’ll be in the IDEA factory. Go behind the entrance and climb the supporting plank (that holds up the wall) on the left (If you’re facing the planks). From here jump over to the shelving and follow it to the end. You’ll see the Blueprint in plain sight.

Chess Piece

Head back to the IDEA Factory and in the kitchen you’ll find a can of beans you can grab. Using these beans to reach the shelving opposite of the blue print. You’ll have to create a ramp to the open window as shown above. The chess piece is outside, don’t worry you can’t fall.

Chapter 5

This level really amps up the gameplay with ‘cloning’ mechanics. As fun as it is, it makes creating structures a real doozy. This cloning mechanic applies to Fire Alarms as well. So pulling it once should count but just to make absolute certain, create a handful every time.

Cloning Trophy

Cloned Doors

At any point throughout the level you find items that can be cloned, you’ll be able to obtain Why Are You Like This?. It takes a lot of cloning to do so, it is likely that it has to be 1 item repeatedly cloned and not just a group of them. As the shrinking doors above did not earn the trophy, but the pile did the job.

Chess Piece

This is an annoying one. From the room with Fire Extinguisher 7 + Alarm 7 you’ll want to take the alarm clock into the previous room. Since this alarm clock is cloning, you’ll want to create a tower to climb up onto the air vents above. You’ll see the haphazard mess of a tower in the picture above, and you’ll understand why with the cloning mechanic. Take it slow and steady.

Here you’ll have not a collectible next, but a miscellaneous trophy to nab. You’ll come into a room with a Green Apple (It’s in the same room as the next Fire Alarm). You’ll want to pick the apple up and and drop it on your head; make it big and stand under it as it falls for Son of Man.

Chess Piece

Immediately from Fire Extinguisher 11, don’t enter the room. Utilize the filing cabinet beside it and make your way ontop of the door, then the flood light, and over to the air duct to find your next Chess Piece!

Constellation – Vending Machine

Immediately around the wall from Fire Extinguisher 14 you’ll find a Vending Machine. To the left of this vending machine you’ll find the entrance to the next constellation.

Chapter 6
Fire Extinguisher 1

Constellation – Dining Chair

At the beginning of the level you’ll enter into a projector room showcasing some clouds; it’s immediately after Fire Extinguisher 1. Before leaving this room, to the right of the exit is a well nested entrance to the constellation.

Blueprint + Chess Piece

At the back of the room after Fire Alarm 5 there’ll be 2 collectibles. Climb the boxes you see in the corner to obtain the Blueprint. Turn around and look towards the door and you’ll barely see a chess piece atop the door frame. Luckily you can reach the chess piece from the floor.

Blueprint

Bouncy Castle Ramp

You’ll soon enter some locker rooms and then into a drained pool room. Bring the Bouncy Castle back into the locker room and set it up like above. You’ll find the blueprint lying on the floor.

Blueprint

This is a highly missable Blueprint and easily missed too. You’ll be in a room where you’ll need to manipulate door portals to get into a keyhole to continue the level. Before you leave the keyhole, make sure you have a small portal in the keyhole and a large portal set-up in the next room. You’ll want it to look similar to the picture above. This is so you can come out large enough in the room to climb onto some objects to reach the Blueprint location above as well!

Chapter 7

Starting Chapter 7 you’ll get some of the most out of the box, abstract puzzles in games you’ll come across. They’re fun, clever, and tricky – though this often means it’ll mess up the perception, so the collectible pictures that’ll follow may look all rotated and confusing but it’s due to the nature of the game at this point.

The gallery for Fire Extinguishers and Alarms will be split, as the next one is really well hidden. So a note is needed. The first image will show you the next place to go in the chapter, but also a guide for exactly where the Fire Alarm is. It’s immediately around the wall to the inside of the picture frame, but it’s really dark so keep your eyes peeled.

Chess Piece

While you’re in the confusing perceptive rooms, you’ll find a door half-way up a wall. The door is removable, what you’ll need to do is use that door to make a ramp up to the now empty door frame. Inside this hallway is your chess piece. Don’t leave the hallway yet though, as you’re next Fire Extinguisher can found here too.

Blueprint

Die Ramp

This one is a little bit of a bother as you won’t have enough to make your own scaffolding. You’ll need to utilize what you have to get to the top already made scaffolding where you’ll find the next Blueprint.

Chess Piece

Bringing a chess piece with you, you can utilize it as a stepping stool to reach the pipe on the wall. Bring the chess piece up here and use it as a stool to get closer to the chess piece. You could finagle with it for a good while, but it’s easier to use the jumping method and pressing X when your cursor is on the chess piece. Do not leave this room yet as you can’t return to it, it’s a drop down. Immediately before dropping down, you’ll find the next Fire Extinguisher.

Fire Extinguisher 16

Blueprint

The Blueprint and Easter Egg?!

You’ll fall into a room, and instead of grabbing anything, follow the hallway behind you to find this easy blueprint.

Fire Extinguisher 17

Constellation – Projector

Once you appear in this very bright white room, turn around. Near all the wooden paneling laying on the floor, walking around this location you’ll fall into a narrow hallway below. This will lead to the hidden constellation path.

Blueprint

Scaleable Wall

At the end of the level you’ll be wandering around until you find a lone bedroom. Do not enter it yet as it will end the level. Go around to the back of it and you can scale the junction box to get on top of the structure, where you’ll find the Blueprint.

Chapter 8

Chess Piece

At the beginning of the level you’ll need to enlarge a building and go through it, essentially returning you to the same area. Shrink the building and return it to it’s original spot then return back through the portal to come out tiny. The neighboring building shown above, has the Chess Piece among the alcohol glasses at the bar.

Chess Piece

In the same area as the first Chess Piece, you’ll have to do the same set-up but this time with the vending machine. Once tiny and inside, look up to find the chess piece.

Blueprint

Climbing Set-up

As you move through the ‘outside’ world you’ll come to an office area with a “Deception” sign above the receptionist window. Use the vending machine here to obtain a soda can and bring it outside and to the side. You’ll use the soda can to climb the junction box to reach the top where you’ll find a blueprint.

The above 3 collectibles are fortunately all in the same room, and the only ones in this chapter! Earning you Fire Safety Achieved and Fires Extinguished.

Blueprint

When you return to walking through the hallways of the ‘outside’ world, you’ll find one without walls. Go around the windows and behind the door you came through to find your blueprint.

Blueprint

Explaining the position is tricky, so once you reach a vast open area of the ‘outside world’ (It looks like the arctic with giant water coolers) you’ll want to stand on the rock to your right, matching the picture above. The blueprint is beside this rock to the left. This being the final blueprint will earn you Feeling Blue.

Constellation – Electric Piano

Again, just lineyourself up with the position above which is near the exit of this area. Turn around and go to the bottom of the ravine to find the entrance. Being your final constellation you’ll earn Stars Align.

Chess Piece

You’ll need to take a quick jaunt inside the door to the next area to nab a chess piece. Bring it back to where you found the Blueprint and make a ramp like the one above. You’ll notice a red marking on the ice which is a portion of the Chess Piece. You’ll need to align this portion with the one on the water cooler tower, it’s finicky and make take you a lot of tries to re-align it. Being the final Chess Piece you’ll also get Chess Master.

Now that you’ve collected everything in the game, complete it for Wake Up.

Stage 2 – Miscellaneous Trophies

Superliminal makes use of locking bonus features behind obtaining all collectible sections as a pre-requisite. Now that you’ve obtained all the collectibles you’ll have access to them all. At the main menu, scroll down to the option below “Credits” it looks like the exit sign symbol, click it to acess the warehouse area. Go through the doors to the left and pick up the golden chess piece in the middle for Polite Recognition.

Load up any level with an office at the beginning of the level. The computer screen on the desk will have a picture of a chess board. Interact with the screen to be brought to a new area. You’ll need to make 2 moves to complete the puzzle here; move the pawn away from the king and place the rook where the pawn was. You could also imitate the image below for Kasparov:

Winning Chess Move

The final miscellaneous trophy does have specific ways of unlocking but we’ll go for the neutral easy method. Load up any chapter and pick up an object, now don’t touch anything. Put the controller down and wait a few minutes until Vaguely Activated Achievement pops.

Stage 3 – Speed Run

The final 2 trophies before the platinum are what makes this platinum so difficult. You’ll need to be master of your element to be able to complete this game in under 30 minutes! There isn’t much to say in ways of aiding besides tell you to know the levels and puzzles inside out, all the feasible shortcuts, to not waste any time, etc. Luckily we have reached out to a streamer by the name of Clockwork_D0rk who has recorded their PS4 run of Superliminal under 30 minutes and graciously allowed us to use their footage. Make sure to check their video out, content, and updates to their stuff! (As they have plans for a voice-over with tips to the Superliminal Speedrun)
