Welcome to the trophy guide for Kotodama. This can also be considered a walkthrough and may be used for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. Achievements for Steam and Xbox are in almost all cases the same as the PlayStation 4 Trophies. A roadmap is provided in the stages below.

Follow us on twitter for the latest news and giveaways.

Stage 1 – Play through the first 5 chapters and reach the 2nd playthrough.

Welcome to the Kotodama Trophy Guide! Pqubes very first developed game! Since endings can’t be unlocked in the first playthrough you can run this one however you see fit and enjoy it! You can’t earn any of the ‘collect all words’ trophies on the 1st playthrough, only 5 or 6 per chapter, so don’t fret.

Note: Kotodama has a lot of crashing at choices if loading a save at a choice. Highly recommended to make manual saves at regular intervals and quick saves as soon as you enter new locations.

Stage 2 – All 3 Endings and All Words!

Note: VERY IMPORTANT – quacker reveals A LOT of scenes, if you don’t read quacker you’ll miss follow-up scenes. So AS SOON AS QUACKER INFORMS YOU, open it and read all new info. This game doesn’t technically have missable trophies, unless the word messes up on you you’ll earn all but 1 word on the true ending.

There are three endings in Kotodama. Each choice in the game has 3 options: grey, red, or blue. Reds will bring you all the way through to the True Ending, Blues are often Bad ending, and greys get you a neutral not the good ending. You can either follow the note from Stage 1 and utilize that to reload and re-make choices (Choices won’t be black once you reload as you’ve seen that option). Even if all options are grey, only some greys offer words so there are ‘better’ greys to choose. If you don’t want to fly solo, feel free to follow my path / recommendations.

Chapter 7:

  Good Ending
See the Good Ending

The Good Engind is a trickier ending to obtain, more so than the True Ending in my opinion. To obtain the True Ending you must choose ALL Red choices UNTIL the Final red choice “Look at Nanami” DON’T choose that option. To get the Good Ending you will want to choose “Look at Wakaba.” Follow through with the Teachers battle and Nanami’s battle and you will earn this.

  Bad Ending
See the Bad Ending

This is by using choices with information you shouldn’t have, most of the blue choices lead down this path. Example: Asking Nanami how she know what the note said at the end of Chapter 5.

  True Ending
See the True Ending

All of the important choices for this ending are indicated by red choices.

My path for the True Ending:
note: I didn’t include single choice responses or the opening as those choices don’t affect anything. These choices are from the start of 2nd play-through. Make sure to read Quacker A.S.A.P when it updates. If I forgot a choice just do the reload trick and see if there was any important decisions and contact me to update the guide.

Chapter 7:
Note: There is a tricky word to get ‘suspended’ it’s in the reference room which is sometimes empty, I loaded the Principal’s office then Reference Room and that gave it to me.

Kotodama has a simple CG list in terms of a VN. All of the CG’s except the special CG’s are revealed through the 3 endings, there aren’t any ‘side’ CG’s or missable CG’s if you’re following the paths.

The Special CG’s are unlocked by beating each character’s hard Kotodama in Fantasize Mode.

 KOTODAMA Expert
Completed a puzzle in hard mode

Kotodama’s hard mode unlocks late in story progression after each character’s 2nd+ Kotodama. First availability is Honoka’s 2nd Kotodama in Chapter 1 after the time leap. You’ll meet a screen saying “Honoka’s underwear unlocked in Fantasize Mode” after the 2nd Kotodama. You can now go play hard mode with Honoka.

KOTODAMA Activated
Completed a puzzle

A “puzzle” refers to the mini-game ‘Kotodama’. You’ll earn this through story progression after the tutorial against Nanami Kagura.

Fantasize Mode
Played Fantasize Mode

Fantasize Mode is an unlockable feature after completing the first ‘Kotodama’ mini-game. It is essentially a “Free Play” accessible from the main menu or your dormitory. You’ll unlock more characters the more story you play.

To earn this trophy ASAP, after completing your first ‘Kotodama’ make a manual save then exit to main menu. Pressing “Options” button will access this mode.

Game Over
Experienced a Game Over

This trophy is simple, experience a Game Over. In Kotodama’s mini-game “Kotodama” you start with 20 moves. Move your cursor to the top row swapping out tiles repeatedly until you run out of turns.

If you want this trophy out of the way ASAP, you’ll want to obtain this in the opening chapter. There will be a skit with a broken vase, as soon as Nanami returns make a manual save. Lose the mini-game then reload your manual save.
