Welcome to the trophy guide for Black Paradox. This can also be considered a walkthrough and may be used for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam. Achievements for Steam and Xbox are in almost all cases the same as the PlayStation 4 Trophies. A roadmap is provided in the stages below.

Follow us on twitter for the latest news and giveaways.

Stage 1 – Unlock Darkness Mode and Kill the Secret Boss.

Complete the main game mode by killing all 5 bosses. This will unlock Darkness Mode.
When you kill a boss, there is a chance that a blackhole will open up in place of the right hand side powerup. If it does, fly into it without collecting the upgrade, killing the boss (Who am I? Trophy).

Buy upgrades from the garage (game over screen or main menu) to make the game easier. Aim to get Level 13 upgrades.

Tip
The hedgehog weapon seems to be the best for all enemy types, including boss fights. The best loadout is probably the hedgehog and the swarm gun, or homing rockets (especially when upgraded).

Stage 2 – Kill 10 bosses in Darkness Mode and get Max Stats.

Kill 10 bosses (accumulative) in Darkness mode. (Fight the darkness trophy).
High possibility that the secret boss will appear more often in this mode.
Because of the more frequent amount of upgrades this mode is recommended to work on the max attack/health/speed trophies.
Note – You can only work on one stat at a time. Equip 4 chips with the same stat at full e.g. health. Then hope you get a upgrade (x 20% health) after killing a boss for the trophy. Then switch to a different stat.

Notes
Playing in local co-op doesn’t make the game any easier.
Thank you to AvengedEvil for some advice on this game. He also has a Full playthough video on his YT channel, found here.

See the video for further assistance, a lot depends on luck with what weapons and upgrades you are given during the game.

Trophies

 Savior of the Galaxy
Tonight the galaxy is a safer place!?

Congrats on your platinum trophy! Thanks for looking at our guide.

 Damage Master
Double the Attack Damage of the Star Phoenix.

Unlike the other ‘Double the stat’ trophies, this one unlocks by purchasing and equipping a Vampire upgrade chip in the garage with the rest of the stats at the default value. Getting an attack damage upgrade, hopefully 20% upgrade, after killing a boss will pop the trophy.
It is also possible to earn this trophy by getting other upgrades, such as 2x 15% upgrades or a rare one that suggests it will max your stats but at a price, it reverses your controls, but guarantees you this trophy. The golden chip power up, that combines all chips, will not get you this trophy.

 Fight the Darkness
Defeat any 10 bosses in Darkness Mode.

Darkness Mode is unlocked for completing the game. It is basically just the boss battles but the bosses are slightly harder. This trophy is accumulative, you can kill only the 1st boss 10 times for example.
See video for further assistance.

Darkness Mode Playthrough.

 Who Am I?
Defeated the Black Paradox.

When you kill a boss in the main game, there is a chance that a blackhole will open up. If it does, fly into it without collecting an upgrade.
Kill the boss that appears for this trophy by dodging any projectiles and shooting him as much as possible. The hedgehog at close range would be ideal.
See the video for further assistance.

 High-Tech Weaponry
Double the Attack Speed of the Star Phoenix.

In the garage, equip 4 chips each with the Attack stat at full, when you get an upgrade after killing a boss, hope that it is one for upgrading the Attack up by 20%. Luck dependent. Darkness mode is recommended due to it only being boss fights, so there are more frequent chances of obtaining the attack stat chip.
It is also possible to earn this trophy by getting other upgrades, such as 2 15% upgrades or a rare one that suggests it will max your stats, but at a price. It reverses your controls, but guarantees you this trophy. The golden chip power up that combines all chips will not get you this trophy.

 Bulky
Double the Base Health of the Star Phoenix.

In the garage, equip 4 chips each with the Health stat at full, then when you get an upgrade after killing a boss, hope that it is one for upgrading the Health up by 20%. Luck dependent. Darkness Mode is recommended due to it only being boss fights, so there are more frequent chances of obtaining the health stat chip.
It is also possible to earn this trophy by getting other upgrades, such as 2 15% upgrades or a rare one that suggests it will max your stats, but at a price. It reverses your controls, but guarantees you this trophy. The golden chip power up that combines all chips will not get you this trophy.

 High Velocity
Double the Base Speed of the Star Phoenix.

In the garage, equip 4 chips each with the Speed stat at full, then when you get an upgrade after killing a boss, hope that it is one for upgrading the Speed up by 20%. Luck dependent. Darkness Mode is recommended due to it only being boss fights, so there are more frequent chances of obtaining the speed stat chip.
It is also possible to earn this trophy by getting other upgrades, such as 2 15% upgrades or a rare one that suggests it will max your stats, but at a price. It reverses your controls, but guarantees you this trophy. The golden chip power up that combines all chips will not get you this trophy.

 The Paradox
Sad is the day when you yourself become your worst enemy.

The final (7th) and hardest boss, Quantum Black. Staying in the bottom left corner while using the hedgehog is best until he uses his charge attack, then back up to the left of the screen and dodge through the gaps. The homing rockets weapon could be used, firing this from the far left of the screen is recommended. A lot depends on what weapons or upgrades you got previously throughout the game and what attacks he uses. Use the L1+R1 special as much as possible. See the videos for further assistance. Boss fight shown at 18:10.

 Lich Lord
The secrets of the universe were within my grasp.

6th Boss, Wraith.
Nail him with the swarm gun/machine gun/homing rockets whilst dodging his attacks, most are easy to avoid but the flamethrower can catch you out. Get in close with the hedgehog weapon, watch for him moving towards you, don’t get trapped in the corner, and back off if he uses the flamethrower. Use L1+R1 as much as possible.
See the full playthrough video at the top of the guide for further assistance. Boss fight is at 15:35.

 Insanity Master
Defeat any boss with full health.

The easiest boss to attempt this on is the first boss in the normal game mode (not Darkness), especially after purchasing upgrades from the garage to make it easier. Use your L1+R1 special weapon to help. Don’t get hit and this trophy will pop when you kill the boss.

 Fury Road
You will ride eternal, shiny and chrome!

1st boss, Insane Brothers. Shoot them as much as possible, avoid any bullets and bombs they send out and watch out for their charge attack. Use the L1+R1 special weapon to help you. Don’t back into the rocks on the left as they will damage you. If you have the hedgehog weapon equipped, attack at close range for an easy win. Position your ship underneath, but more towards the rear-end so you don’t get hit.
See the full playthrough video at the top of the guide for further assistance. Boss fight is at 2:00.

 Arcadia
There’s a time when a man must find a place to die.

5th boss, Angry Bones. Quite easy to dodge his attacks until he fires down rocks, which deal a lot of damage. Sitting under him using the hedgehog while using L1+R1 special is the best method. Homing rockets or swarm gun are also effective while sticking to the left of the screen.
See the full playthrough video at the top of the guide for further assistance. Boss fight is at 12:35.

 Extinction
You’re worse than a damn asteroid!!!

4th boss, Reaper. Actually quite an easy boss, especially if you have the hedgehog. Stay at the back end of him and prepare to move away from him as he moves towards you, don’t get trapped in the corner. Use the L1+R1 special as much as possible.
See the full playthrough video at the top of the guide for further assistance. Boss fight is at 9:40.

 Chain Breaker
Hey! Those chains cost money!

3rd boss, Warlock.
If he spays blue bullets at you, circle his bike and then stay behind him, count 4 purple shots fired and then repeat. If you hear him shout, he is either going to charge at you multiple times, or throw his spike at you, dodge everything. He will fire out 4 cylinders that form different laser beam grids, position yourself in-between the lasers and look out for further shots fired. Homing rockets are good against this boss. Use the L1+R1 special as much as possible.
See the full playthrough video at the top of the guide for further assistance. Boss fight is at 7:00.

 Trigger Finger
This town ain’t big enough for the both of us.

2nd Boss, Shadow. Shoot at him as much as possible avoiding any projectiles. Use your L1+R1 special weapon for assistance as soon as it becomes available. When you see the horse rear up it means you will have many horses charging at you across the screen, dodge them as good as you can. Homing missiles are great against this boss or attack at close range with the hedgehog weapon by positioning your ship underneath, but more towards the rear-end so you don’t get hit.
See the full playthrough video at the top of the guide for further assistance. Boss fight is at 4:20.
